Jolie Silva, Ph.D.

Dr. Jolie Silva has a Ph.D. in Clinical and School Psychology and is a licensed psychologist.  She is currently the Associate Clinical Director at New York Behavioral Health and has a private practice in Manhattan and Long Island, where she provides psychotherapy and conducts psychological evaluations.  

Dr. Silva held a position in forensic psychology at New York City Family Court Mental Health Services, where she was the Associate Clinical Director of the Brooklyn Family Court Clinic.  In this role, Dr. Silva conducted court-ordered psychological evaluations and testified on cases involving childhood sexual and physical abuse, child neglect, termination of parental rights, juvenile delinquency, and competency to stand trial.  Privately, she conducts custody evaluations and is a certified mediator.      

Dr. Silva has experience in working with an array of populations in various settings.  She is a certified school psychologist who has worked with children from a wide range of socioeconomic classes and ages.  She has an expertise in the treatment of childhood behavioral, mood and anxiety disorders and specializes in conducting child psychological evaluations including intellectual, behavioral, and personality assessments.  Dr. Silva conducted research in the symptom reduction and treatment of anger in men.  She has worked in a variety of settings including an inpatient psychiatric ward, university counseling center, and in the neuropsychological unit of rehabilitation center.

Dr. Silva has been a consultant for private investigative and internet firms dealing with security and survey research.  She has consulted on various topics including high-risk children, sexual and physical abuse, adolescent behavioral tendencies, internet criminal behavior, pedophilia, child molestation, parental management and monitoring, peer influence and education regarding online crime.  In addition, she was a member of The Internet Safety Technical Task Force, a group created in accordance with the Joint Statement on Key Principles of Social Networking Safety announced by the Attorneys General Multi-State Working Group on Social Networking and MySpace.
